About PMP Study Groups

PMI Poland and PMI Finland will be hosting a series of webinars for preparation towards PMP certification exams. The webinars will be based on the current version of PMBOK i.e. edition. Online sessions will be organized along 6 weeks. 12 different sessions + 1 test session are planned to cover each of the PMBOK sections. Sessions will be facilitated by PMI volunteers that are PMP certified, and some of them are instructors by profession. Webinars are going to be performed in English and online.  All sessions are held in the evening, so you can participate without going out from home. Each session will be about 2h long – the first part will be about theory: slides presentation and the second part will include some sample PMP exam questions including tips and open questions from participants. Slides material from each section will be shared with all the participants after each session.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

> Q1:  What is the goal of the PMP study group
1st goal is to help to prepare people to the PMP exam. For chapters, it’s also an occasion to promote membership – since the course is free for PMI members.
For lecturers, it’s also an occasion to promote their skills and share contacts.
The limitation of the course is that we do not provide Contact Hours necessary to fulfil PMP exam prerequisites. This is because we don’t want to compete and cannibalize official Registered Educational Providers

> Q2: How many countries are involved? and which ones?
In the beginning, it was only Finland after that Poland chapter joined. Depends on the year – some more chapters join with participants and lecturers. Last year participants and lecturers were coming from Poland, Finland, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Canada, USA, Nigeria, Ireland, Greece, Germany, India, Iran, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Denmark and probably some other countries.
Most participants were from Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Poland and Russia

> Q3: How many years have the study groups being going?
This year it is the fourth edition of PMP Study Groups

> Q4: What were the numbers last year:  – how many people and how many took the exam?
The first and second year it was 20-50 or so participants, last year it was over 150 participants who joined PMP Study Groups.

> Q5: What is the formation of the study group like?
We usually have a kick-off meeting with project PM and some people from Finland and Poland chapter that were involved last years, then created KanBan board on Trello, then we created VRMS application for lecturers on PMI site, then send an invitation to some other PMI Chapters to check if they want to join and advertise it locally.
Then usually work – created communication templates, meeting sessions, presentations, questionnaires, review of lecturers, sending invitations etc, answering tons of questions, etc…

> Q6: What are people expected to do between study groups
We do not have any special expectations, but we recommend people to at least skim the chapter that is going to be presented.

> Q7: What is the schedule for the study grips session
The schedule for this year is not announced yet.
Sessions were performed on Mondays and Thursdays for 6 weeks at 18:00 CET time.

> Q8: Are the Study Group sessions recorded?
We are not recording these sessions, but this may change this year.

> Q9: Can people join later?
People can be added to the participants’ list later, but they have to be aware that they will miss the first session. It should be free for PMI members, and non-members should pay 20EUR for your chapter.

> Q10: Do we provide Contact Hours for the PMP Study Groups Course
No, we do not provide contact hours. We don’t want to compete with regular REPs with this course. However, for those who will pass the PMP exam during the course and for those who want to refresh they PMBOK knowledge, we will provide PDUs.
